When you walk into the dining room at The Sequoias San Francisco, the first thing you notice are the smiling eyes of our residents and team members. Our dining team and residents enjoy being together. Breakfast, lunch and dinner provide an opportunity for social connection, whether it be with a neighbor from down the hall or a friend from one of the social clubs throughout the community.
Along with the culinary team of a nutritionist, and dining services, our chefs create an atmosphere of love. The love of food and love of togetherness. Did you know togetherness can actually add years to your life? The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services calls loneliness an epidemic, with far-reaching consequences for our well-being. OUR CHEF
Our Chef Tsitsi Helman creates a fusion of extraordinary experience resulting in meals that are concocted with passion from fresh, locally sourced produce within 250 miles. But it’s more likely because of her commitment to providing the best experience possible for the people at The Sequoias.


CHEF HELMAN
Chef Helman also comes from a list of discerning palates, having worked for several Bay Area tech giants, including Nerdwallet, NetApp, and Gap Inc., and was the personal chef of an Oracle Corp. co-founder.
As a health-conscious avid runner, Executive Chef Helman has more than 16 medals and sees food as the fuel for the body. After working for tech giants in the Bay Area for the past 25 years, she gravitated towards nutrition for healthy aging. She brings to the table her creativity for making residents’ favorite comfort foods plus healthy options for vegetarians and vegans. “We have a lot of vegetarians and vegans and I love to surprise them with quinoa cakes, kale salads, or cauliflower steaks for dinner.”

Eating well-balanced meals is an important part of staying healthy as we age. Nutritious meals are good for the brain, body, and heart. More importantly, a satisfied appetite and healthy body are the foundation of longevity.
Our dining director, executive chef and nutritionist are in charge of all food preparation and quality control. Menu development is created with input from our resident-led food committee.
Together, creating a fusion between culinary delights, comfortable favorites and nutritious options, our chefs know how to nourish and satiate your palette, while creating the meals you’ve enjoyed throughout your life.

Residents at The Sequoias can choose between the main menu or the MarketPlace – tapas-inspired small plates with global flavors. Have a sweet tooth? Desserts made from scratch by our pastry chef are sure to satisfy your fondness or craving for sweets. The smells from the kitchen can conjure up memories of the past, while you are making memories with new friends.
