Helping Families Discover Senior Living in San Francisco

For Sandor, the path to a career in senior living in San Francisco began with a personal experience that reshaped his perspective on aging and retirement planning. His late father faced challenges later in life that opened Sandor’s eyes to the importance of planning for the future.

“In hindsight, I wish we could have planned for that stage of life sooner,” said Sandor. That experience with his own family confirmed he had chosen the right career helping older adults and their families navigate a path that can feel overwhelming, yet ultimately life-changing.

When he applied to senior living communities in the Bay Area, The Sequoias San Francisco stood out. The Sequoias invited me in for an interview, and the rest is history,” said Sandor. Today, he is proud to call himself a Sequoian, working each day to support future residents in making one of the most important decisions of their lives.

Helping Residents Find Their Place at The Sequoias

As a team member of The Sequoias San Francisco, Sandor’s role is all about connection and guidance. He meets with future residents, listens closely to their needs, and helps them see how life in the community can support their goals for healthy and joyful aging.

“I am responsible for bringing in new residents and showing The Sequoias in the light that the community is meant to be shown,” explains Sandor. Beyond personalized visits and introductions, his work centers on making the transition as seamless as possible, ensuring each Future Resident feels heard, respected, and supported.

Building Confidence for the Future

For Sandor, the most rewarding part of his work is giving families a sense of relief about what lies ahead. “Being able to give an individual or family a path to have a more secure future brings me a high level of fulfillment,” he shares. “There can be a lot of anxiety and emotion in moving into a Life Plan Community (also known as a CCRC), and being that confidante to either one individual or an entire family is something that I will never get tired of.”

At The Sequoias San Francisco, that sense of reassurance extends beyond today. With Independent Living, Assisted Living, Memory Care, and Skilled Nursing, The Sequoias is here to support residents every step of the way so families can feel confident no matter what tomorrow brings.

Moments That Inspire Connection

One memory from Sandor’s early days at The Sequoias remains etched in his heart. Just months into his role, his father passed away. Shortly after, while working with a daughter seeking care for her loved one, she offered him a hug when he became emotional, sharing about his loss.

“It really meant a lot in that moment, and I will never forget it,” Sandor recalls. That exchange underscored the deep human connections that form in senior living, relationships built on trust, empathy, and shared experiences.

Those values later inspired Sandor to create the “I’m a Sequoian” concept, which welcomes new residents, celebrates their move into a Sequoia Living life plan community, and reinforces a sense of belonging, purpose, and connection. It’s all about helping people feel seen, supported, and part of something meaningful from the very beginning.

Never Stop Exploring

Outside of his professional life, Sandor lives by the motto “Never Stop Exploring.” For him, exploration isn’t just about travel; it’s about embracing life fully.

“I’m a big fan of exploring new things, gaining new experiences, and appreciating new perspectives and cultures,” said Sandor. “Whether it’s trying a new restaurant, attending a show, or discovering a hiking trail, I thrive on curiosity and adventure.”on for exploration mirrors the spirit of Sequoia Living’s philosophy to help residents to Never Stop Growing. Providing environments where individuals can grow, learn, and experience life in meaningful ways.

Why a Career in Senior Living?

Sandor believes his role at The Sequoias San Francisco is more than a career; it’s a calling. “I have never been as happy as I am working for Sequoia Living,” said Sandor. “Being able to genuinely help families plan for their future and live where they can continue to thrive and grow has been extremely rewarding and motivating for me.”

For those considering a career in senior living, Sandor has simple advice: “If you have that empathetic, caring gene and want to be a part of something meaningful, this is the place to be.”
