Meet the Newest Sequoians: Unlocking The Next Chapter

For the newest Sequoians, moving into a life plan community is not just about downsizing, it is about stepping into a life filled with connection, purpose, and opportunities to Never Stop Growing.
The spirit behind the I’m a Sequoian series introduces you to some of the newest residents in our four communities in San Francisco, Walnut Creek, Portola Valley, and Marin County.
Each new Sequoian arrives with a unique story and their own vision for what’s next. Celebrating their arrival with an I’m a Sequoian key represents more than a warm welcome. It symbolizes embracing change, continuing to grow, and finding joy in community.
Saying Yes to New Beginnings
Andrea, who recently moved into The Tamalpais Marin, downsized from her 2,300-square-foot Novato home after 32 years. “I like change and embracing new things,” she says. Encouraged by her advisor to make the move, Andrea realized there was no time like the present. Her advice for others considering a similar path? “Don’t take too much stuff.”
Thanks to support from the Tamalpais move-in coordinator and maintenance team, Andrea was up and running quickly, from hanging artwork to setting up her internet. Now, she’s excited to explore southern Marin, make new friends, and continue embracing her love of travel.
Leaving Homeownership Behind, Gaining So Much More
Mari recently moved into her new home at Viamonte in Walnut Creek. “I will Never Stop Growing!” she says with a huge smile. After many years in Orinda, Mari was ready to leave behind the burdens of homeownership. Now, she enjoys freshly prepared meals, maintenance-free living, and the simple joy of being surrounded by n
ew friends.
History, Hiking, and Community
Meanwhile, new residents Jim and Pat are settling in among the redwoods at The Sequoias Portola Valley. As history buffs, they’re thrilled by the expansive library and community of fellow enthusiasts. The proximity to Windy Hill Preserve means they’ll also enjoy scenic hikes as part of their everyday life—a perfect combination of nature, learning, and community.
A Shared Spirit of Growth
Across all our communities, new Sequoians like Andrea, Mari, Jim, Pat, Hal, and Barbara are showing what it means to step into their next chapter with curiosity and enthusiasm. Whether downsizing confidently, exploring new passions, or building meaningful friendships, their stories embody the Sequoia Living spirit: Never Stop Growing.
Over the coming weeks, we’ll continue introducing more of the inspiring individuals who’ve recently become part of a Sequoia Living life plan community in the Bay Area. Through their voices and experiences, we’ll celebrate not just where they came from, but everything they’re becoming.
